Invisible Children

There is a very informative movie you can get on the site about this group of children in Uganda. The war there forced
these children to traverse great distances on their own, braving the dangers of the harsh African wilderness on their own.
The Bracelet Campaign is especially noteworthy, because not only does the money spent on the bracelets go to the Ugandan people,
but these same people are employed because of the project, and they earn the money themselves.

Free Rice is about as painless as is gets when it comes to charity. You are given a word and a list of four possible synonyms.
If you pick the right definition, the sponsors donate 20 grains of rice to the UN World Bank. This site promotes education
and battles starvation at the same time. You have nothing to lose, so go for it!

Kiva was started as way to lend a helping hand to struggling business owners around the world. After alotting as little
as $25 to your account on the site, you can browse a list of people who are in need of a loan to help get a business up and
running. The great thing about this is that it allows each person to earn their own money, and after they are successful enough
to earn your money back, the return it to you, and you can donate it to a new needy entrepeneur. The system helps people helps
themselves along with striking up the intimacy that is integral to true charity.
The ONE Campaign

The ONE Campaign is a politically active site that constantly works to combat disease and poverty where it has the worst
effects. Members are kept up to date about petitions and legislative possibilities that will promote US support of those in
need. You can sign the petitions you support and stay active in the government as well as the fight against hunger.

As mentioned elsewhere on the site, this is the organization run by Greg Mortenson that is discussed in the book Three
Cups of Tea. This group works tirelessly under amazing leadership to give poor citizens of Pakistan and Afghanistan the most
important tool for leading successful lives: education. Their work is inspiring and their cause is undeniably vital to the
progress of the world's welfare.

This is the website run by the faction of the United Nations that is specifically devoted to caring for the world's impoverished
children. There are pages of good information, community support, and advice on how to help.
